  • According to Musk, the new AI platform TruthGPT will help understand the nature of the universe and will be the maximum truth-seeking AI tool.

Elon Musk’s new AI platform “TruthGPT”

On Monday, it was reported billionaire Elon Musk will be launching his artificial intelligence platform which will be known as “TruthGPT” to challenge the offering from Google and Microsoft.

Musk stated in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, “I will be starting ‘TruthGPT’ or a maximum truth-seeking Artificial intelligence tool that will help comprehend the nature of the universe.”

He further stated, TruthGPT “might be the best path towards safety which would be unlikely to annihilate or affect humans.”

Musk had previously accused Microsoft-backed OpenAI, the company that created popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, of “training the AI chatbot to lie” and claimed OpenAI has now become a “Closed source”, for-profit company “closely allied with Microsoft.”

He had also accused the co-founder of Google, Larry Page of not taking safety measures for AI seriously.

To launch a startup that would rival OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, Musk has been poaching several AI researchers from Google’s parent company Alphabet.

According to a state filing, last Month, Elon Musk registered a firm named X.AI Corp which is incorporated in Nevada. Elon Musk was listed as the sole director while Jared Birchail was named the managing director of Musk’s family office.

Civilization Destruction

The action to launch an artificial intelligence platform came after a group of artificial intelligence experts including Musk called for a six-month break on developing more powerful systems than OpenAI’s large language model GPT-4. This request to place a pause was due to concerns related to potential risks to society.

Musk had repeatedly warned about Artificial intelligence in his interviews with Carlson, stating “AI is more dangerous and risky than mismanaged aircraft design or bad car production.”

He said, “AI has the potential for destroying civilization.”

As an example, he also stated, AI chatbots can write incredibly well and are capable of potentially manipulating public opinions through their generated content.

Over the weekend, Musk tweeted about his meeting with Barack Obama, the former president of the United States, and talked about the need for Washington to “encourage AI regulation.”

OpenAI was co-founded by Musk in 2015, although he stepped down from the company in 2018 to focus more on Tesla and SpaceX.

In 2019, he tweeted another reason for stepping down from OpenAI was due to Tesla competing with the same people as OpenAI and he had few disagreements about what OpenAI’s team wanted to do. Concluding it was better to part ways on good terms.

Currently, Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform Twitter which he bought last year for about $44 billion.

In January, Microsoft announced a multi-billion dollar investment with OpenAI which marked the third phase in their partnership.

It will be quite interesting to see how Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence platform “TruthGPT” would turn out and whether it would be able to give tough competition to Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
